The threaded plate, where the hinge bolts to, on the inside of the door should move freely. That should allow the top of the door to move out.
Whith shims on the cowl side, how is the windshield pillar alignment?
Aftermarket door or hinges?

I believe most car companies have been spraying some sort of waterborne for awhile. GM even had some in the 80′.

How are their prices compared to 3M or Norton?Are you trying to just spot in the areas that were repaired or spot in the color and clear the entire panel?
