Maybe my eyes are bad or something…but I don’t see any solvent pop. 1 or 2 of the epics look to have fish eyes to me, though. (which would be caused by contamination).
It’s solvent pop, from my understanding, from laying all my coats heavy / wet. This picture shows it well.

I’ve sprayed all my high build primers using the same setup and I didn’t have any problems. I did have the occasional water drop, but I’ve put a filter right before the gun and haven’t had any problems since.
Looks like fisheyes to me….
October 16, 2010 at 11:20 pm #24270If you are going to wet down the panel you are always going to have a problem with the sides because you do not get strong enough adhesion on the edges and it will keep folding up causing you to keep messing with it and get the bubbles you were talking about. The wet method works best if you are installing a decal on just a flat surface like a bedside sticker on a truck or something like that.
With a little bit of practice doing them dry is much easier and when you fold over the sides you won’t have any problem at all.

June 19, 2010 at 5:50 am #21958I’ve never shot that particular clear but I shoot in a booth that about this time of year is running between 105-110 degrees so I have had the same problem. Your first coat is going to look a little dry, no way to avoid it without running but after it’s flashed your second coat should bite to the first so you should be able to shoot it a little heavier. I don’t know if this will work for you but it works perfectly for me and after two coats I’m good to go. :rock
June 18, 2010 at 8:22 am #21946I use the Sata RP 3000 1.3 and it lays the clear out real nice. Real user friendly too you can adjust it so you can lay it out like glass or give it that factory peel.
June 17, 2010 at 6:31 am #21924I’m going to try to use it again and wipe it extra good even after it looks dry and then I will let it sit for a while before I shoot over it, hopefully it works because I really dont want to skip something important like that BUT I also am freaking sick of sanding out fisheyes in my clear because of it. It’s not only with the 909 I have used valspar’s also and same thing…
