If you use epoxy, you don’t need an etch.
Some epoxies even say not to use over etch.

I don’t like the Iwata for basecoats.
I only use it for clears, it’s a super clear gun.
But for basecoats, why fight it, I always had problems with silvers
as a lot of others have.
My elcheapo Astro never gave me a problem so that’s what I still use for basecoats.
Iwats’s are great clear guns.
But for metallic basecoats, you can keep it.

Bondoking thinks everything should be clear coated.
He’d clear coat his wife if she’d stand still long enough.

I’ve been wanting to try Presta, mainly because I was told they were one of the few
that doesn’t have glaze in their products.
That’s a big plus, glaze just hides the swirls and scratches only to be seen later
after a few good washings.
So Presta would be the way to go.:)
I really don’t understand why other than with it being wide open it was letting more solvent get on the panel? .
There really is a reason why they come out about the same.
When you go wide open you go faster, to keep it from running.
When you dial it down, you go slower to get it to flow.
There’s really very little difference to the end result of mill thickness
when you’re putting it on wet enough to flow out but dry enough to not run.
It’s about the same.B)
