Rust will not come back if repaired properly. The only way to get rid of rust is, 1) cut it out and replace with new metal 2)REMOVE the rust by blasting or by an acid solution. By acid solution, I DO NOT mean a product you squirt on with a squirt bottle or rub on and it “converts” the rust or “stabilizes” it. That always kills me….”stable rust” :cens

After 1 of those are done, epoxy primer over the clean metal and will be fine longer than any of us will be alive. 😉
Just because it is a high dollar or nice paint booth, doesn’t always mean you are going to get clean jobs. Booth prep, car prep, and how clean YOU are all factors in a nice clean job. I still know guys that paint out in the middle of the floor that get just as clean of a job that I get in my downdraft. Thing is though I will never have any problems from any regulations and can paint anytime of the day at anytime of the week.

If you are planning on making money at painting cars, invest in a good paint booth. Doesn’t have to be new…can be like what jay said or one from abtm. But hey…if you want to take a chance, have at it. But honestly you won’t get much help here on building a homemade booth.
Next is a “zr6” body kit mod for another c6. Pretty nice kit….hefty price tag. Guy brought all the stuff to me. Forget the name…supervettes.com or something like that. Comes with fenders, hood, quarters, rocker splitters and have to buy a Z06 front bumper and all the components.

What he is saying is after you get coverage on your repair, cut your already mixed color by 50% with the intercoat and complete your blend.

I personally find that no real advantage…..but I don’t use DBC/DBU. Might be common practice..? With all akzo products I just use slow/extra slow reducer in the base and spray nice wed/med wet coats and they blend find without having to cut them down with any intercoat. If it is a tough silver, I might throw a splash or two of the “intercoat” in to the mix for the last coat.

Really have to watch how much intercoat your are using to cut your color because it could mess with your colormatch.

The interiors get painted just like you see. Probably not as nice, I didn’t mimic the primer dip lines that you would see factory or the black tar like seam selaer in some of the floor. They got a little less paint up towards the top of the firewall. This isn’t a concourse 100 point OEM GOLD restoration. Will be a nice one none the less.

    Thanks guys

A w400 isn’t terribly slow. Not an RP though…..but definitely faster than a nr2000. The lph is the one that is deathly slow with clear…even though it will lay out a nice finish.

    😛
