The keystone euro is pretty decent. Sprays nice and looks nice. Haven’t used it enough to say anymore than that. I would put it in the same category with AG-40. You sure he is a sikkens rep or an lkq salesman? 😛
Keystone is made by Cumberland. They specialize in private labeling. Believe they make some products for transtar also…
My lkq guy is a good guy…he worked for the sikkens store before the take over…but would hardly take any recommendations from him to heart.
March 20, 2012 at 6:11 pm #36412I just checked color pro at the shop and they do have kawasaki colors. Listed under “kawasaki motor” same with honda under “honda motor”.
Whether or not they have that color I don’t know…theres about 6 reds that pull up. They don’t have as many codes listed as sikkens.
March 20, 2012 at 3:36 am #36394Mo, call the akzo tech line (or have your jobber call) and give them the code and get an akzo code for them or a colormap number. If you get an akzo number look it up on line with their mixit online. http://www.qnetonline.nl/SIKNA/SearchForm/Manufacturer After you find it, click “documentation” out to the right and it will pop up the colormap number.
Or you could get them to just give you a colormap number and then look it up through colorpro. The colormap numbers are the same ones in sikkens.
That is the thing about wanda, if they list the code in sikkens (and not in wanda) you can pull it up via the sikkens colormap code. I do this all the time for the old car colors as the wanda database doesn’t hold a lot of them in the program. I just pull them up through sikkens and get the colormap code and then pull it up in colorpro.
They are the same books in Sikkens, Lesonal and Wanda (not sure about utech).

As for SPI, they appear to have a “cult” type following. You might want to google SPI forum, the owner of the company supports his own forum there.
Have you ever used it?
October 29, 2011 at 6:47 pm #33888Quit making it a year or so ago I think. It was the highest solids content clear they had I believe.
October 29, 2011 at 6:28 pm #33885Never heard that before. Universal is every bit as high solids as the HS+. Never used the MS but know from others’ accounts that it is lower solids, and have used plenty of utech ms clear in the past, so I know “about” what it is like.
This area will probably be the last to be hit by the voc laws….or it may even never get here/enforced. Who knows.
October 29, 2011 at 6:14 pm #33883You know so much about me, Jayson. I do now, but used Sikkens for years before switching to SPI. Autocryl hardener and standard/extra slow activator all the way. I’m no prodcution shop. I’m guessing you know the solids content of SPI’s high solids clears?
I have no reason to be using “low voc” products in my area. Maybe when that time comes I’ll have to rethink my techniques. :silly:
October 29, 2011 at 5:46 pm #33879Ah, so you assume I don’t used a high solids clear? Maybe not so much the low voc…
October 29, 2011 at 5:25 pm #33877I’ve always started in the middle of the roof in a downdraft booth. Never had problems with a dry edge. It’s all in technique and everyone is different. I get asked all the time why I do it the way I do it…and the answer is: it works for ME. 😉
October 17, 2011 at 11:54 pm #33606Good explanation, but with proper gun adjustment, spraying technique, and reducer selection there is no need for drop coats, assuming you are using a quality base system. On lower quality systems, I’ve seen guy sword fight their way through an all over achieve a uniform metallic finish. Beats me why they keep using the stuff.
October 15, 2011 at 2:44 am #33520
When was the last time your exhaust fan and stack were cleaned out? That could be all that you need to get some more airflow along with fresh filters. The universal is a pretty good clear(I swear it is re-packaged ACII) it can be used for small jobs or allovers, thicker than proair and nicer to spray.I don’t know it you can use ACIII hardener and activators with it but I suppose it is possible.
pretty much is. If ever in a pinch on hardener and activator, you CAN use the ACIII standard hardener and activator. I think it buffs a little easier than the ACIII though.
Of all the AKZO clears, I beleive the Lesonal Universal is their best. Cost and performance.
