Glad it’s going well for you! Are you baking the base? Do you have colour decks? Camera?
Which clear coats are you using, and how do they compare to the RM ones?

Any Axalta dealer in Toronto should be able to set you up with a demo. Check it out let us know what you think of it.

I don’t understand how people are still getting this product in Canada, is it not the old solvent system? As far as I know it should no longer be available up here.

For a good solvent system that is compliant in Canada, check out Axalta’s Cromax Mosiac.

I really like it. What stood out to you the most over the first gen?

No, but I can’t imagine it being very good. It sure would be neat to try! I’m sure it would be a whole different animal! Who even makes one to buy? I know there is some prototypes out there, but are any of them available?

Oh….. Well then. Lol! My bad.

That product does not exist in my area. I know nothing about it other than I thought it was a Sherwin Wiliams spin off. If so I wonder if Sherwin has a similar product that might be more common, it would be nice to know if there was a crossover product that people on the forum might be more familiar with. Good luck!

Also I really like the new Aquire RX camera for silvers. I have really good luck wild carding them.

It should be better for you! One thing I do that seems to help me is in most colors medium to dark metalics I leave a bit of the black out. I find most of the colors are a bit to dark. If need be I add it back in. Hopefully you get a color deck with the new system.

With the Axalta line of waterborne you are better of doing it without a ground coat. It really shouldn’t need the ground coat. It’s just a matter of getting enough paint on, the more you use the product the better of a idea of how much paint you need. You really want to try to get it wright on the first shot with this system

No it shouldn’t be a 3 stage, and should cover good. You just must not have got it on wet enough. Any talk about when you might be switching to the Newer version? How has the painting been going?

I applied my Standohyd the same way as they recommend to apply the Standoblue. In close and wet on the first coat then far back with heavy overlap on the second coat

I love the stuff! But there is a huge learning curve. It is $h@&y to re aply over, but I am able to do it. But rarely have to. You want to try and get it right the first time, which really isint that hard to do. The Standoblue is a bit easier to reapply than the Standohyd.

I have sprayed the old Standox Standohyd since it was available in Canada, as well as the new Standoblue. I love the stuff and feel it is the best system out there IMO. If you have any questions I will try and help. The second gen is a bit easier to spray, but not day and night diferent.
