I know that Standox Standoblue, standohyd, and baslick all say that a 2k sealer or primer must be sprayed inbeetween poly. Polyester spray filler is not a recomended substrate for basecoat. For this reason your waranty would be void, PPG might be diferent, but I doubt it. Upon failure you would have to rely on evercoat for waranty.

Interesting I didint realise this is how it worked. So really for most shops there paint will not change, only the labels will.

I feel that humidity will still have some effect on dry times even if it it is solvent based, No!

Is this “Black magic” A black metalic if so I dont think you will get much if any more depth, I don’t believe that Standox recomends mixing there base into a clearcoat especially some one elses clearcoat. Good luck with your project. One thing I always wanted to try when I used sikens (base can be mixed with clear) Was take a black pearl paint a panel then take some of the pearl that was used in the formula mix it in the clear spray one coat then recoat with normal clear this should suspend some of the pearls and give some depth.

you can tell when it is a factory repaint, because it is usually shiny in beetween the layers. somehow there paint sticks to itself and they dont sand it. You can see the shiny in the layers of the feather edge.

I was a bit suprised that this would be that good, the solvents that which the paint companies are alowed to use to keep the voc’s down just arnt that good no matter how they mix and match or try to blend them, the technology just isint there to make a nice low voc solvent production base coat

Just curios do you wet on wet your epoxy and urethane or when you say epoxy do you mean etch primer.usually epoxy needs to be sanded before urethane is aplied.

65000$ For me a year and thats pretty darn low compared to other trades in this area, I work hard and do good work, and the hacks who do crap work make 80+ a year and ruin it for the rest of us. pretty sad. I was told not to get into this trade but my pasion was strong now at times I regret it. But the future in this area for the trade looks bright. :cheer:

I have been meaning to post about this, Standox Pfc30 is also terible for this, I have also herd sickens (new low voc??) and sherwins(???) It seems like it is the new voc clears that are doing it, I find if you sand 1500, 3000, (TRIZAC) 5000 (TRIZAC) Then leave it sanded for a couple of hours before you buff it is better but It still can happen, almost imposible to buff a dark color IMO. And a real pain in the A$$ :exci

To bad Cromax never worked out for ya, I have experience with Standox but not Spies I dont believe they are the same in solvent, I have herd good things though. I do know that Spies has some awsome clears and primers. I am not woried to much about profit on materials more about eficiency and product hold out and for those reasons Standox Standoblue is my choice.
