Thanks guys, and gal. 🙂

I didn’t mention the intake or exhaust because I needed all of them. I guess I should have been more specific. Anyways, I will call the paint booth manufacture and ask. Sorry to take so long to reply as my computer is down and I am borrowing one now.

thanks guys… I am using PPG base with PPG med reducer 870.

I am going to try it again tomorrow morning. I think I am going to try it like you guys said. Up a little higher. I’m going to try to just dust in the color to cover in an X pattern one more time and hope it blends good this time. Last time I did it at 10 and 15 psi. Not sure what I should do this time?

I’ll let you guys know how it came out.

The gun is always super clean.

I’m having trouble spraying it with out making it dry. It seem when I try to lay it wet it stripes.

So, I should lay it head to toe and then side to side? Do it when the first coat is wet or wait for it to flash before the second coat the other direction?

Seem like thats the same thing as doing an X???

Thanks guys… I ended up using a blade to scrape it flush and sanding with 800,1000,1500,3000. came out perfect. Had to sand it twice but it came out.

Thanks for all the help. I will try to putty trick if I ever get another run.

I will post up a few pictures of the car. The owner loved it when he came by to load it on the trailer.

Well today I did some more sanding… wanted to see how good it looked so I used 600 wet to get a little reflection. Turns out it looked really nice but has a tiny jog in the reflection. If you look down the side normally it looks straight but if you look at something across the yard you can see the object has a little bend to it.

I tried to get it out by sanding more but couldnt get it out. I was doing the X pattern while sanding. I decided to try something a little different and sanded in a circular motion with a 12″ block from top to bottom in one motion working across the whole panel and it came out perfect.

Has anyone else sanded that way before? I always use to sand in an X pattern but after I did it this way the other door and quarter came out perfect too.

Also, whats your guys input on sanding with 220,320,600 wet and using sealer right before paint? pros or cons?

Talked to a local guy that stops at 320 and seal coats it every time before painting. I have always sanded 320 400 600 and painted it.

Its not a bondo ring it’s just a low spot that the sanding block doesn’t touch. It’s just a slight shaded area, nothing to big.
I went ahead and added a little more putty to fill in the low spots and now I will re prime again tomorrow and try it again.

Just wondering about using to much primer???

Yeah I guess it is ruff enough for paint to bite on, huh? LOL

Okay, I’m don’t thinking… don’t want to fry anymore brain cells that the paint fumes haven’t got to yet.

that’s a good idea… so make some kind of track in the wall that would duct the air being pulled from the fan to each opening along the base board? Kind of like the heaters in a house work? But reversed of course.

Trying to visually think of how the suction would work inside the walls with the all studs being in the way???

The only way I can think of is to run it along the top where crown moulding would go and drop down surfaced mounted ducting to the floor with wide openings.

Got better idea’s?
I use a coarse red scuff pad and wax and grease with it when i have done them.. bc/cc will hold up fine i just like using single stage 2 coats and done…
That’s it? Scuff it and shoot it? Cool, I thought I would have to prime and sand… uggg, that would’ve sucked.

Hey Timbo…
I was thinking about using drywall then gluing the FRP to it with H tracks between them to seal the gaps between. I can use any idea’s or help you can throw my way.

Underpaid Painter…
After thinking about what you guys are saying, I’m pretty sure that I will go with the double door like you and other have said. I can make them pretty cheap and like you said, installing rubber around the sides and bottom should really help.

Thanks.

Good post, I was about to ask the same thing. Didn’t even have to use the search button! LOL

Just wondering, you guys keep saying SS??? Does the BB/CC not hold up on the high heat of the engine?

Another question, do you need special paint for the engine?

Thanks, I was thinking that the roll up would be much better. I guess I didn’t think about the sides of the door having an air gap??? If I use the two 4′ door option then I will have to lay wet towels on the floor in front of the door to seal it I’m sure. Then again, I will probably have the same issues with the sides?

Maybe a foam roll down the two sides when the doors close they will seal. Or build a frame around the door that hangs over to the walls?

Im about ready to build so I guess I will need to think this out carefully.

Thinking about using a whole house fan (the big 4×4 one) in the celine up front and drawing air from the front next to the main door with filters the full length of the walls.

Or would it be better to put the fan right in the middle on top and draw air through the front and rear by the doors? I would be afraid of crud falling from the fan on the paint. Probably not a good place.

Any idea’s would be helpfull. Thanks.

no help on this one?

Need idea’s for what to use on the interior walls too. Maybe FRP or should I just drywall it and paint it with some good heavy duty paint?
