Hope you charge him for all your time! Dont mess w/ panel painting, you will waste more time trying to tint than the actual time to prep and blend.. Lesson learned!

Worth a shot anyways! Make sure you get him to sign off on the color before you paint it.. That way no issues arise after its done and the bill is ready to be paid!

What he doesnt know wont hurt him.. Had a customer like that, wanted his door painted no blend was against it at all costs.. Told him I would charge him by the hour to tint the color.. Ended up we couldnt get it matched, spend days on it.. I just told my guys to pull apart the side of the car, sand, blend it out and ship it..Customer picked it up and was so happy the door matched perfectly. Paid his bill and went on his way.. I never told him we blended both ways 🙂 We did do it right though, pull bumpers, moldings, handles,etc.. Might go that route… If he is paying to tint, just charge enough to blend it out..

Probably going to be a pita to tint.. You might consider blending.. I know it will take more time, but how much time will you have tinting that color? Scuff, tape and shoot..

I wouldnt, because then you would need to blend the fenders to do it right. I would repair that hood if it was in my shop.. I would use a stud gun and a block of wood to repair that.. Wouldnt take but a couple hours tops.

Could have, if you planned on doing it the wrong way.. He did just fine on the repair.. He is here to learn how to do things the right way, not cut corners to push the repair out the door faster..Thats whats wrong w/ 75% of the shops/tech in this country..

Nice work on the video! Looking good! One quick tip trying wearing rubber gloves when you are cleaning the bumper that way if you touch the bumper by mistake wont cause any issues down the road. Sometimes the oil in your skin will cause problems sometimes not, depends on the person. Otherwise looks like you are getting good at bumper repairs! Nice easy money 🙂

Also I didnt notice if you put sealer on your cut through or not.. Might shrink down the road if not..

Cant blame YOUR life choices on one person, many people over come hardships and still get their final destination in life. Besides you didnt miss anything, this business isnt worth even going to trade school for.. If you like being underpaid and over worked and having 65k+ in tools then I guess you did miss the train.. Keep it a hobby….

Your first post made the hood seem much worse than it actually looks. Make sure you are taking the paint off farther than the repair areas before you apply filler, makes your life easier in the long run.. I would of fixed that hood in a heartbeat.. I was thinking much much worse..

That is where a good PDR guy will come into play.. We have ours push to paint all the time. Sometimes all we need to do it prime and block other times we can scuff and shoot.. Otherwise grind all the paint off and coat it.

Yep, I have a Spray Bake and an Ameri-cure. Ameri-cure is almost 11 years old, Spray Bake is about 13. Havent had one problem w/ the Ameri-cure. Has been a good unit, they have made many upgrades sine I bought this one. Last time I was at NACE 3 years ago we took a look at the new ones and I was impressed for the money. Give them a ring, they are in Arizona.
