March 22, 2013 at 7:53 am #42333Our shop is on basf onyx, and i do two tones without clearing before taping. we use a tape from fbs corperation that is made for stuff like that.I agree if it is preped corectly, and watch your flash times, there should be no problems.I use diamont (R&M) on the motorhomes i paint on the side and i do not have any issues with stripes or graphics.
March 19, 2013 at 7:02 am #42219my bosses wife came into the booth to give me my check and when she left i noticed tiny little fisheyes starting.long story short i had to respray the car .yes i did get paid to do it again, she wasnt happy but my boss told her to stay away from the booth. :dnc
March 14, 2013 at 10:27 am #42110:welc no question is a bother.it depends on the graphics.i usually put down a clear base for example basf diamonts 00 clear base over the color to lock down the metallic.then do graphics, then 2 coats clear let dry a day or two, then wet sand with 1500 or 2000 then buff.alot of people also use ppg dbc500 that works well to in between coats,or colors

March 11, 2013 at 7:51 am #42024we use the HB050 blender at our shop.i also found that if you hb040 insted of hb020 u get a little more consistent blend.i know they like the spray pressure to be in the 20’s but i spray onyx around 11-13psi.sounds to low but i have great results and save paint to.i spray base with my tekna copper 1.4 tip.

February 26, 2013 at 8:14 am #41654Are u using blue fine line or a white transparent fine line by 3m .the 3m white seems not as sticky, usually that works for me.i also try to pull the tape off left or right not pulling up on it.
