Just proving the point.. although last night I got the dew point etc stuff from physics 101 🙂

What about Ford Ruby Red with tinted clearcoat?

    Well.. now this is interesting..
I did a stress test with my compressor on the water separators.. and you were right..

So it is a waste of money to send hot air through water separator close to the compressor.. after 15 mins of pumping the water separator at the compressor was dry.. and further down the line the inline gun filter was gushing…

I would definitely do a air chiller like in the video I had posted earlier.. Then add the water separators.. I cant have tubing in my garage..
I can add the chiller/condenser before it enters the tank.. and on the exit of the tank I will add the water trap..

65% ultra fast + 35% slow.. and I think it will do it. I have tried once and did well.
Paint companies produce 2 types i.e Ultra fast and Slow.. and they mix them accordingly to get the proper ratios.. you need experimenting but I found that this ratio 65/35 works well to get a fast hardner..
Ofcourse if the mix is done for the same product/brand

Well I did a small test.. I removed the moisture trap from the compressor put it down the line and ran a full 2 cycles. Marked the water amount.
the second test was the trap was directly on the compressor..
    The results were:
    in test 1: less water
in test 2: more water collected

Further down the line [45ft] I have a gun filter attached..
In both cases there was absolutely no water/dirt/oil in the gun trap..
I measured the temp of the air and in both cases it was 28deg Celsius around 85F.. It never goes more than this. This was the temp in the piping..
The temp outside the gun was 19deg celsius around 58F.

The Sharpe system diagram is good practice.. but my garage isn’t just big enough..

The water traps are all made from Prodif which here is quite cheap.. Only the high volume production shops here use desiccants..
I personally like to reuse stuff and not throw away money.. so desiccant is kinda expensive for me..

I might give it a go on a condenser from large AC systems and give it a cold treatment and cooling with additional fridge that can be left outside..

Also few years ago I came up with filling water traps XXL size one, with silica to get them to be more effective.. and they worked perfectly..

Maybe my solutions wont work in a high production environment but they certainly suite what I do in my free time..

    @Scoobycarl
I’d say go with the video and try to build a cooler from an old AC condenser.. It can be a car or truck type.. it will be fun and will be cheap for your boss too.. so I’d put my money on that.. followed with additional water trap.. and a gun trap.. and I think you will be in the ball park for dry air..

I think that is the cheapest way you can get by..

    1-3 cars/bikes per month..
Do you suggest that I move the water trap further from the compressor?
My compressor is new and does not spew out oil.. but I get quite in my water trap.. Maybe like in the video adding a condenser coil and then the water trap will help?
It was just a suggestion.. I see a lot of people adding water traps on their lines and get excellent results with their air. So maybe all you need is 2-4 water traps that will dry the air and will cool until it reaches the gun?

What about connecting 2-3 water separators on the line in different places.. will that help..
I have a water separator and filter directly on my compressor and have one on my gun.. never had any problems.. the weather is humid and hot so it is like in the UK..

How much time will the desiccant last in a production environment?

    EDIT EDIT:

Here the foil that is used on cutter to cut the designs is called PVC foil.. so it will be on PVC foil low tack..

Well.. when I tried clear coating with MS and 1.0 nozzle I got quite corn cob and orange peel finish.
If you must use the mini gun.. reduce your clear apply 2-3 coats.. although I did wheels few months back with a normal size gun and did not had nay problems using it..

Your best bet is use the AZ3HTE2 for the clear.. check the tech sheet and go accordingly with the mfg specs on spraying it.

What brand clear do you want to use?

Ah I get it now.. so what I did was add a flow coat.. OK
btw.. I did a superb flow coat with a $40 china gun.. so I don’t think it is the gun..

Yeah.. that happened to me when I painted my Uncle’s GSX-R

Although it had a lot problems..

Cratering, fish eyes, runs etc.. but I color sanded the whole thing and added a flow coat.. few minor runs.. but I got almost mirror finish from it..

At the moment I spray 2:1 + 10% reducer to get a more even finish and allow the clear to flow out nicely..

I hope I can get a better finish.. i.e. factory VW finish and better.. with my new gun..

I have a make shift small paint booth that is mobile.. and almost always get no dust or particles.. I have a carpet on the bottom that serves as wet bed retaining the particles..
