3 to 4 coats of paint? wow.. im glad ppg has improved that wit their sprectral gray sealers in their nexa auto color line. i cant imagine having to use 3 to 4 coats of base coat. looks real nice tho bud!
I would say at least 3 coats would be standard on any red. Are you using a system other than water that covers in less?

That sounds about right. Although you can ask for the tech sheet for the product you are using. This hot weather can make it harder to lay out a smooth clear on an overall but with the slow activator you will be fine. On a overall by the time you are done with your first coat, you should be able to start right in on your second. Good Luck

I remember taking on things like this for the experience. 😛 But now i would not even consider doing something like that now. Much props to you for this undertaking. Looking good :cheers

Thanks for the input guys. As for the GTI pro i have one also but its to big for getting into tight spots. I was borrowing the mini jet it worked well but before I dropped the coin on a new gun just wanted some input. I do mostly collision repair with some custom stuff here and there. I have a supernova and like that so was kinda looking at the lph but have not used one. So all the comments are helpful
I should add I would try to mix some toner in with your black and also try adding pearl to a clear binder and treating it like a 3 stage and see which color you like better
te

X 2 I would also do the tri coat but it depends on your painting ability. If ya spray on black with a clear binder/pearl ya gotta do it right or it will be light/heavy in spots and look bad. mixing some pearl in with the base is prob the way to go just take your paint to the auto supply and keep adding small amount of pearl until ya get the color you want.
