You guys really use cups still? I thought the whole world switched to PPS or similar? I went disposable and never looked back.
I can’t afford the disposable cup systems. I’m barely starting off, and only 19. They are nice tho, I didn’t really like the RPS system from sata, it seems the other systems are a bitt easier to use.

    :rock
I’d be happy to trade away a cup.

Someone on this forum might have a cup to sell you, lots of SATA users on here. Maybe just wait and see…
Maybe, I’ll look around and see what I find, if not I could ask someone on here but I don’t know how that would work out with the payment etc.
Any sata cup with the quick connect fitting will work for you,you can buy them brand new from a sata dealer or on ebay.It ticks me off that sata started doing that, they used to give the 1L aluminum cup out with all of there guns, another way to save a buck I guess :wak
o ok, i will look around, my local paint store hasnt seen a sata rep in years so he has to special order them, he priced me the 4000RP for $87x.00 before 10% discount. so i looked on ebay, and found same model for $575. i havent had any luck with the cup tho. abtm has the cup for $77 think so i might just go with them.

Ok, thank you. I have one more question, when I first started spraying I used a 1.3 on my Tekna, but then moved up to a 1.4 moved up to a 1.4 because I wanted a bit more speed, with the Sata’s being faster, should I go back to the 1.3? I sprayed well with either size but I also don’t want to go with the 1.4 and have a cheetah in my hand :p
I own all of the guns you mentioned, and my favorite of them is the WS, but i would have to say that of that group the 3000 is clearly the fastest. Big difference in speed? I wouldn’t say big, but noticeable.
O ok, out of the 3000 and 4000 is the finish quality a big difference?
Well, I’ve used the 3000RP & HVLP and 4000RP a fair bit, both great guns. The 3000RP is the faster of the 2, however, I prefer the 4000. I’ve only used the Iwata once. It seemed nice and sprayed well, but just didn’t feel “right” to me.

What are you looking to use it for? Just as a clear gun?
Yes just for clear,I forgot to state that, I’m looking to get the RP, well if I were to go with SATA
Are you in socal?

If so you can borrow my 4000RP.
I’m not sure what that is haha but if its a place, no, I’m in Ohio

    March 9, 2012 at 6:54 am #36224

O ok, I’ve heard the 3000 RP is a great gun, and some like it better than the 4000. And I’ve also heard that about the W400, I want to get the latest, even if it isn’t right now. Also the guy at the store said the supernova is amazing. But why has the WS400 been pulled? Would it still be legal?, not that they go and check your guns

    March 9, 2012 at 5:33 am #36222

The guy at the store said he could get the 4000 for about $560 if I order it thru them.

    March 9, 2012 at 5:29 am #36221

Yeah I’ve been trying for my teacher or the paint store we go through get the demos, the 4000 was basically a no as he said they haven’t seen a rep in years, and he would try for the supernova And yes I’m a faster paint, so I don’t really like hvlp as it seems to woke for me haha

    March 4, 2012 at 10:13 am #36113

Yeah it was horrible haha but its all good. I feel I’m a better painter than them :p and yeah I studied all the charts for nothing, and its funny that you mention that because their students actually did take the first 3 spots.

    March 3, 2012 at 4:12 am #36106

Yeah but ours is for high school level its called Skills USA, and i did good, not as good as i hoped though, i got a run in my clear since i never sprayed it before  , than i cut my finger on the fender and it leaked blood like crazy from a tiny cut which i dont understand why. so i had to stop and get multiple band aids, it was a huge mess from the start. but i really didnt care so much for it, is it doesnt prove anything, thats all they practice on. and all the paint info they gave us was wrong, we used Deltron not Sherwin-Williams :wak

I talked to my instructor today, and asked him to see if the supplier could let us demo guns and he said he would see what they could do. I asked him to ask for either the iwata lph400 or supernova, and the SATA 4000 RP. I’m hoping they will, and won’t discriminated since we are a public school haha , ill be spraying in the next couple of days so hopefully they’ll lend them to us. :woohoo:
