ive been spraying nearly nothing but utech for nearly two years now but recently switched to the new utech line and im not sure if this is a common issue or not but its not hardening as quickly as the old 3.8. anyone experience this? other then the dry times its still really nice stuff to spray. i agree with ryan that its harder to run but knock on wood.

i dont think it was mentioned but i have been using sikkens tack rags for a few months now and a rag goes a really long way before it needs to be replaced. i prefer them over gerson hands down because they seem to pick up more.

    hi welcome!

i run a one man shop too and i specialize in fleet repairs and refinishing and honestly i dont care about speed as much as i care about quality and cost. your customers will appreciate your quality more then speed and honestly you have to teach them reality and tell them to relax. to be honest id be embarrassed if my work only lasted a year or if i had customers who didnt care about quality and were only concerned about speed. i tell those type of people to check out the other fleet shops.

i did an exact job 3 months ago but the van was a high top. i did it like ding suggested and sectioned halfway at the windows. panel bonded most and welded the ends, sections, and pinchweld on the bottom. did it in a day and was really easy. hardest part is cutting the cardboard box up that it comes in :wak

do u get the materials from the jobber for free or discounted?? maybe thats bothering the owner? if not, why wouldnt they want you to keep current with experience? to me that would be a bonus in an employee.

i wouldnt pass on a sata, but i bought a protek spray gun a few months ago for primer to replace my accuspray and for about a hundred bucks and an imitation of iwata or sata it does the job good.

i was referring to the flash time between coats. are you baking it? does the solvent pop happen all over the hood? or only where you over lap in the midddle? if its happening only on hoods or horizontal surfaces and all over maybe your applying it too heavy?

cheap fast clears tend to do that even after applying the first coat. if its doing it on the first coat you can reduce it a little if theres room for that on the tech sheet, to slow it down a little. if its doing after your subsequent coats then your not giving it enough flash time.
