i really didnt like the gun. it came with a 1.8 tip which really wasnt that large enough to spray primer unthinned. its really slow. only upside to it is the low overspray as mentioned and the convenience of replacement heads. in my opinion its not worth it if your priming large jobs.
welcome to the site paul. i use the curved end of a door skin tool to get most of the window flange bent over and then a wide sheet metal vise grip to finish the bend tight. http://www.wurtec.com/products/Hand%20Tools/8R-3.jpg and http://www.toolsource.com/prod_medium/115773.jpg
welcome to the site Paul. i use the curved end of a door skin hammer on the window section to get most of it bent over and then i use a flange type vise grip to close it tight. this is the hammer type im talking about http://www.ebay.com/itm/Martin-Fiberglass-Handled-Door-Skin-Hammer-170FG-/130747341861 and this is the vise grip im referring to http://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Original-Locking-8-Sheet-Metal-Tool-Irwin-23-Vise-Grip-8R-/230834205791?pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&hash=item35beca745f&vxp=mtr
one thing i could add is that we’ve been using dupont sontara drop cloths for masking off for primer instead of using 36″ paper. we only have to do light masking with 6″ paper and can reuse the drop cloths. heck i think we’ve had them for over a year now.
good one! learned that trick from Bondomerchant. i use old blankets now instead of having to use plastic sheeting when priming.
Heh, okay, not the kind of replies I was expecting. Please can you refrain from tell me to go buy a used spray booth or lease one, for reasons I don’t feel the need to get into.
Let’s help me with designing this new kind of spray booth! Thank you.
your zoning officer and fire marshal will give you plenty of reason.
You can laugh all you want but youve seen the pics….im freekin getting there with that gun!! And you know how I feel about the primer gun!
at 15 psi, and a fan half open your getting there really slow. And yes weve seen the pics. not impressed.
you will not learn anything from this site because you are not here to learn but you are here to defend and glorify your stupid excuse for a spray gun and lack of talent. get real for a second and start researching (on your own first) how to properly do body work and paint and apply it. now thats learning.
Yeah ding really the reason I used it this time was because I had a few pinnys and it wasnt an absolutely perfect repair. That area is super flimsey, curved in all directions, and I didnt get it just right. So I figured rather than to skim it again with poly filler, then primer I would spray SS and get it leveled off perfect. Then come back with the 3055 surfacer. That stuff damn near sprays like base coat. So come in with 2 coats of that and knock it down with 600 wet. Come back with maybe 800-1000 on the DA and sand the rest of the panel. Or I suppose I could use a grey scotchbrite and some paste too. Either way.
By the way if it werent Friday night I would have just skimmed it with poly filler so i wouldnt have to wait for primer to dry twice. No baking at my shop.
ive noticed you always have an excuse for your workmanship; be it being your booth, the weather, the paint, the size of the panel, the day of week, time of day, the compressor, the humidity, the spray gun, the other painter… honestly idk how your coworkers react towards you but id fire you if you couldnt just do your best without complaining.
every painter/ body man faces problems or challenges with every repair but a good tech can make things work without a cover story and thats what makes this trade an art.
