the basecoat is priced at about 100 a gallon too, if you think about it what car ever needs an entire gallon? so throw in some cheap clear and ur set. even if low end paint is what u deliver dont give yourself the headache using single stage. if something goes wrong you have to wait a long time for it to be sanded. with bc you can usually sand within 20 minutes. if not, kirker makes good acrylic enamel and costs so much less. you can buy it cheap online through smart shoppers or auto body tool mart.
What clear are you using?
im using Morton 40 Glamour clear. it sprays easy only 2 coats are really needed and buffs great. its also pretty damn cheap. i get volume discount on it since i buy and use alot of it. but ive been using this specific one for about 2 years now and its holding up extremely well.

Han id recommend this gun hands down.
i used a 1.3 tip with the 7E7 air cap. but to sum it up in a nutshell this gun is awesome for both basecoat and clearcoat. its like having two girlfriends lol. i had the finishline by devilbiss which idk if it was defected or its just not good but this Tekna gun is like everything the finish line wasnt. its really light and cleans easy. it sprayed the basecoat super silky smooth. i never had results with black basecoat or perhaps any color coming out so flat with out sanding between coats. it took 2 less coats of color so thats almost a quart and half of reduced product. with the clear it layed it down perfectly and i wasnt using any 500 dollar a gallon clear either. overall it saved me an hour of not sanding the color and will save me another 4 of not having to cut and polish orange peel. thats alot of time for just one job. now imagine what it could do for the guys who spray a few cars a day. but like i said im gonna buy the 202 cap and see how it performs and im also gonna upgrade to the aluminum cup since its bigger and i thought the plastic cup was kinda small. i bought a regular guage for it, HAV 511 and it worked perfectly. it doesnt use up alot of air either i think it was at 20 psi but it wasnt slow or fast. it was like perfect speed. from what i herd about the RP, the 7E7 produces identical results for far less money. i love this gun
hey welcome, i have the same problem here in NJ, income levels in our neighborhood arent that high to make a decent profit, so im always looking for cheaper versions of good materials. i think i have a complete material list of the best and worst of the cheap materials list.
