Oh yeah, that probably is the ’04 I was thinking about that flat blue from the ’06. If you haven’t seen it check it out sometime, it’s pretty crazy.

Is that the iridescent blue that’s flat? Man I just checked and motorcycle paint supply is down for 2.5 weeks. They are worth the wait though, the price is considerably less than color rite.
Do you use R-M? Try the paint code in smart trak. I have found motorcycle colors on there before.
I think you should give him 3 prices and explain each one to him. For example $5000 I’ll do a color change, spray jams, under hood lift gate all the normal places but I won’t take that much stuff off to paint it. I’ll tape up most of the stuff and it won’t be as detailed.
For $6000 I’ll take the time to take things off, sand/clean underneath them do things right. But, there may be some orange peel here/there.
For $7000 I’ll do all this and wetsand/buff the entire truck when finished and I’ll give you a Han detail. He’ll probably ask, “what’s a Han detail” just tell him, “Trust me it’s good and will take hours” lol
I only use it to cover up my Superduty swirls and trap solvents!:P One day you guys will have a clue! But really I don’t think we have any wax in our shop. We used to use Bufords Pro Gold on dark colors. It’s a straight carnuba wax so it shouldn’t trap anything. Ultrafina has been a lifesaver!
Well, the #26 is a carnuba wax. I didn’t know it made a difference.
Thanks guys. He explains it to me the exact same way with the swimming pool analogy. I questioned this ONLY because a swimming pool has a much larger depth difference than 2 measly coats of clear. I can see the light reflection difference of a few feet, but wasn’t so sure I could on clear.
And I did observe a color difference as well, but I just chalked it up to the other panels being faded.
Touchy subject I know, but does anyone wax cars before they leave? I know, I know, but there are a few that do including the shop owner I work for. He’s never had an issue so he says. He says if it’s baked it’s ok. I have read that solvents don’t finish leaving new paint for a month or so. He uses Meguiar’s #26.
I just finished up a couple of mirrors today in Honda’s red from the bikes. I have sprayed the exact same color over a dark gray and it took around 7 coats to cover. Today, (after learning red doesn’t cover lol) I sprayed some junk white from a porsche I did and the same red covered in 3 coats.
Now since red is much more expensive than white I choose to spray white for 2-3 coats then 3 coats of red rather than 7 coats of red.
That’s good to hear Han. We’ve been ok. We were DEAD I mean standing around waiting on a job dead a month or so ago, but it’s picked up a little. My bike painting business is booming though. I can’t keep up. I also have a lot going on in my personal life (terminally ill father) that makes it difficult right now.
Dealing with that +fulltime job+part time body shop+bike painting business+6 year old twins is not exactly a relaxed schedule.
