I used it on a large set of Ethan Allen bedroom furniture and I don’t think my compressor was quite adequate. It looks great, but I still had more over spray than I was expecting. I got a new, larger upright compressor, and I’m just now striping a new Ethan Allen sleigh bed. I’ll be spraying it next week. I’ll update the results. Thanks for asking.

I got a 60 gal Campbell Hausfeld comressor that delivers 10.2 cfp @90lbs. I rigged up my garage with 3/4″ galvanized pipe according to some design layouts. I almost got a two stage, but I think this will be ok for occasional use. The LS400 requires less air than the WS400. I am anxious to get started.

This thread has helped me select a new gun. I need to replace my older lph400 (non lv) that was stolen. I’ve painted a few cars but I’m mainly interested in finishes on pianos and restoring furniture. I had the wonderful experience of sanding down the orange peel of a Chrysler black single stage Urethane on a grand piano and sanding back up to 2500. I learned why it’s best to put a contrasting color on top so you can see when you get to the bottom of the dips. I’ve also learned to spray up closer than I used to with my old Binks siphon cup. I got a direct number from MechanicsToolsWarehouse for Iwata. The rep was very knowledgeable and helpful. She said that the LS400H is built like a WS400 but it is compliant. My compressor does not have enough cfm to support either the WS400 or the LS400H. I ordered a LS400 Silver with 1.4 tip. I got a fantastic price. :dnc

:p Thank you Kunena. Is that name Hawaiian? We lived on Kawai in 1991. I’ve learned so much from the board and others. About 4 years ago when I bought my lph400 at a local body shop, the sales person had nothing to say but try it out and experiment. I used to spray lots of cabinets and custom furniture with my old Binks siphon gun using Fuller lacquer, my favorite. I was holding my Iwata out at the same distance as my Binks and I was getting lots of over spray. Forums are great places for people to help each other and share good tips. Now, I’m also ready to paint the side of my Tacoma and the back of my Prius.
I only search for a list of old American built furniture on Craig’s List such as Ethan Allen, Stanley, Lexington etc. That stuff is so much better than the new Chinese furniture. After I refinish it is better than about anything new. Nice digital pics linked to PhotoBucket really help the sale. Actually, as a hobby, a good auto body painter could fill his house with very nice furniture. I got a Yamaha Grand Piano for $350 and a whole set of Ethan Allen bedroom furniture with Ar-moire for $440. Both just needed some gluing staining and finishing. I’ll post before and after pics later.
