We switched to autowave this week, the rep says to try using hardner in the base in a situation like I explained here. I havent tried it yet. Can I clean over it with wax and grease remover without removing some of the color? providing sufficient dry time. Also, is there truth in adhesion problems if using a solvent based intermix clear over the wb? and if so, would adding hardner to the solvent based intermix clear help? I use ppg dbc500
Why would you NEED to degrease base coat?
If you can get DBC500, why not just do the whole job in PPG/solvent base?
Does PPG say you can add hardener to the DBC500?
Why not just clear the thing, sand it, and move onto the next step without worries?

I agree, a larger tip size can also help.
July 3, 2012 at 8:11 am #37567I’ve painted regularly at 110 metal temp.
Depending on what brand you’re using many companies offer ex-slow and even ex-ex-slow. Adding a hardener to the base coat (if compatible) may also work well.
There are guys in the PHX area painting daily at 120.
July 2, 2012 at 7:03 am #37553I’m loving the new Hutchins model 500 and 600.
Way more power than anything else I’ve tried and much smoother.

Switch to Universal LV, you’ll be much happier.
I NEVER add hardener to AWMM or LWB, I see no need.
June 28, 2012 at 5:31 pm #37518Get the new tape from 3M 6528 series and put it all behind you. It will leave a cleaner edge than the fine line and release easy from the base without adhesive transfer. Its a pale green colored tape. I’ve been using it three months and zero issues.
June 27, 2012 at 5:04 pm #37507My view is that the shop owner buys the booth and gives it to you to work in. YOU make the mess, you should clean it.
Do you clean your guns everyday?
There’s no reason in the world booth should get that dirty.
June 25, 2012 at 5:32 pm #37485Anything you wipe the object with between tacking and base is a risk.
Like Ben already mentioned, grounding may be an option.
