March 24, 2013 at 1:28 pm #42391Hey we’ve all been chatting bout the 3m sun gun. If you go on my thread (fixing the both) there’s links and ideas on the 3m sungun. Ideas on how to make a home made on it buying one for £65 and not £400. Through you might want to look at it as I’m making one know as my boss won’t buy one for the painters 🙂

March 22, 2013 at 1:48 am #42319Hey John do you do valeting and detailing. I have noticed that let’s just say a guy in a suit turns up and wants a leaflet on prices and products. He will check up them up on the net when he gets back home. So I tend to have a quick chat ask what he’s doing at the weekend etc to find got if he wines and dines out, you find out that he drinks lets say whiskey after a meal,
That’s the biting point when I say ill do you a deal of you buy the full detail costing x amount ill give you a bottle of you favourite whiskey costing £30 he won’t say no as its his favourite and he’s getting it free from you plus your the one doing all the work ha ha.
It may sound like a wheeler dealer but it gets the spare work in you pay £30 and get the full price 😉 I’m not saying so it with every one just the ones which have the suit, clean shaven and you ask for a business card so you can call him when the cars finished,
March 22, 2013 at 1:08 am #42317Hey you might be right bout not waxing. But in my eyes I don’t like to send the car out naked. You wouldn’t go out in the rain with no clothes on ha ha, try ulimatefinish for all your polish etc they have everything, I tend to buy a cheaper wax ie g3 super wax for every day car and put it on for free. For the top end cars a better wax.
A good little trick is to ask them if they want a top wax put on and say that if so they get a auto glym shampoo kit free. Know the wax say cost £30 plus and hour labour and they get a £7.50 shampoo kit to them. And spash out on a air freshener as well and they got nuts for the free stuff that you buy in bulk which cost you next to nothing 😉 win win
March 22, 2013 at 12:25 am #42314Hey mate looks great, I saw you used the farecla g3, did you put a wax on it. The farecla wax top is great but it’s £25ish so you can try a g3 in the black bottle it’s the same stuff, half the size half the price.
Attachments:March 21, 2013 at 12:31 am #42294U should be fine in Ireland as I live in guernsey which is closer to France then England the only problem I have to get a courier which add to the cost but it pays off when I do a big order. With Dtc I get
Masking tape
Masking paper
Fillers and putty
Etch
Filler primer
Clear coat and hardener

March 20, 2013 at 3:47 am #42257Try not to have the diesel heater to close to where your painting as I could put fish eyes in your clear.
Yeh water wash tak, it’s a clear paint you roll on the walls and it stays taky the over spray stocked to it and when the walks get dirty you wash it off with waterMarch 20, 2013 at 3:35 am #42252I’ve never sprayed the upol clears so I’d have to have a play with it,
If you could go down the hardware store and get a thermometer gauge so you can get the right heat in the to get the clear to flow or dry how its meant to, try and keep the dawn and cold out when it’s dry. I have seen people wet the floors to keep the dirt down but I find it let’s the damp in and can make the clear milky.
I tend to sweep the area and even mask paper to the floor where you spray.
Use the tak cloths on the masking and an older tak cloth for the air line,
Erm for the over spray, if the walks are painted white and washed down and clean then get a water wash tak for the walls. It’s a liquid film you roller on and it stays taky 🙂 so the over spray will stick to it, if so glow the over spray towards the walks between coatsMarch 20, 2013 at 3:18 am #42244Ok I’ve just looked on the tds and it says for the tip 1.3 and your using a 1.2 so if you try widen the fan a quarter turn and a little high psi it’s got a t2 on so it will flow abit, if you drop the psi or make you fan smaller it will run or sag in the drying time, is the s2030 standard harner
Running it at 2 bar will be ok on a 1.3 but a 1.2 will give it the peel effect
With the hardener I’ve just looked and the s2030 is a fast and the s2032 is the standard, do you hard any heat or air movement in the area your spraying. And also if your using a fast hardener and going on bit dry that could be why it’s die backing and giving a peel and no gloss finish
