i heard the longer you wait to clear after basecoat the smoother it will turn out.

    lol.

Thats not ricer at all. I would have gone without the sticker though and put some bronze wheels on it. Im really no 4 cyl. guy unless its turbo. And i would have already gone without that stock intake manifold. other than that its pretty clean.

I wanted to go to UTI and Wyotech, but the thing about them is that they are a college with no dorms. In order for me to go there I’d have to get a good job in order to afford an apartment, car insurance, phone bill, credit card, e.t.c. to pay for everything on top of going to school full-time. So I checked up on the local community college ( which has been growing ) and looked at what they offered.

I learned mechanics by kind of hard knocks. I didn’t have lots of money for shops to fix my cars. Luckily I had a friend who is very mechnicaly inclined and learned it all from his dad who just recently passed. Hes helped me out a lot and I learned from him and reading on the internet. Any forum would give me the answers of my questions, so it was just trial and error

Well if a shop requires you to have previous experience those classes will give you that experience. The class will also probably have different types of certifications to get that will also help you on getting a job. Call the schools and ask about the classes and see what you will get out of. 6000 is alot for a class but apparently youre not in the US. I was very weary about going straight to an auto body shop and asking for a job when I had no idea what I was doing. Usually they start you off as detail or shop clean up. Thats why I went to my local community college and took welding and Im currently in Collision Repair/Refinishing. I love it. Hopefully you will find something

Thanks a lot zarbat thats what I wanted to know. I found this starting line by devilbiss kit that comes with a topcoat gun and primer gun. I really only want the primer gun out of it for the 1.8 tip but it comes with its own caring case, two paint cups, PSI gauge, and some cleaning brushes for about 150bucks. Then ill use the LPH for my base/clear.

awl man nice car!!! My first car was a 73 GTS ( im only 19. got it when i was 15 ) I just sold mine back in october and boy I miss it. It was all original with paperwork from back in the late 70s! original 351 cleveland spun 2 rod bearings after oil pump gave out. Replaced it with a 357 windsor. I love those cars and will always have a knack for them. keep it for as long as you can!! Shes a beaty!

Jim c-How much will the primer have to be over reduced? i like to spray my primer pretty thick so I wouldn’t want it to run all the time. I guess thats speed control for ya! Is there a seperate cheaper gun I could look at for the primer? maybe a sharpe or binks or something just for primer? And for the base coat how different is it compared to a sata 3000? Ive been watching some vids and it looks like the Iwata spreads real nice and even for base.

Zarbat- I was going to use the orange cap for my base and use the silver cap for clear. Ive heard the silver cap is pretty awesome for clear. None of the colors ill be shooting are a metallic so ill be fine in that neighborhood.

whats the difference between the W400 and the LPH series? When I paint in class using the sata 3000 i spray at 29psi and its an HVLP. Thats what it says to spray at.

By the way that paint looks great! looks like no orange peel at all! good job!

    March 14, 2010 at 10:51 am #20087

So can I still shoot primer through the 1.4 tip? If so would I need to reduce it more or is there a certain type of primer I would need to use for it?
