Cheers rob,yea its only used for 2-3 panels the sprint clear.but still getting too much texture,i think i maybe too close then as didnt know i should be 8 inches with the sata.i rekon i will try A,pull back a bit. B,move a bit quicker and give a bit less over lap.see how it goes. Will also try and keep it 2-1 on the base coat sides.
Any tips with the iwata supernova ? Its non hvlp.thanks

I did tickle over it a bit with some 2000 but with very little water as habbit really as i do this before last coat of solvent base to smooth over any little fibres or tiny nibs in the base,as said its just habbit now, lol, sometimes a slight halo can occur so a little flat with 2000 damp before last coat sorts it .

Thanks for the link mate i will have a look at those.

The landlord still having the building work done so rekon its gonna be a couple of months till we get sorted,we have a small unit that hold 4 or 5 at a push at the mo but next door unit is huge and hes not too busy so as his unit come around in like a l shape kind of were having an xtra 2 to 3 cars worh of space off his unit, hes a mot garrage and mechanical work so its getting breeze blocked off first and cleaned up but you know what builders are like they turn up some days and then you dont see em for a week ! My gaffers doing his nut but the builder is a one off nut job from back in the day,was bit of a well known geezer so he doesnt want to upset him really, lol.

We have a fan in our booth at the mo but is flush with the wall,we get a good pull from it but the filter blocks quick so we lose the benefit on large jobs,i think it should be set back more with a larger surface area filter wall.

Do you do the denibbing dry or wet ? Also you can sand a nib out of solvent base paint and struggle to cover the sand marks if its a silver job, does water base have this problem ?

It is a bit funny when you put a coat on and it looks like its a different colour completely, then as it dries it goes to the colour it should be.
Say if a bit of dirt landed in the base coat or say the air line touched wet basecoat how is it delt with ? Can it be flatted out like solvent can ?

Thanks for all your imput, any more on water base please throw them in the pot as would like to learn more on it,cheers carl.

Hi bud,we use mipa solvent base which is good paint but not brilliant with matching some colours.i use a sata 3000 rp and just bought a new iwata supernova to clear and must admit im prefering the iwata.we use a clear made by sprint not sure if you have heard of it but its not bad, were refurbing our self made booth soon and it needs it as its been there for 8 years.were also extending the back of the shop so it will be a cleaner and brighter place to paint.

Your work looks nice and clean mate, what paint and clear do you use ? Do you thin the clear at all ? Be nice to paint in a propper booth tho as we have a self made with extractor fan but we have extended the back of workshop by about 1.5 large booths so when done it will be better and cleaner hopefully.

Having to clean a primer gun out doesnt seem a problem to me,not enough to want one of the 3m guns and then need to buy the cups.
