We had a similar thing this week when we ordered a NEW 2012 passat door from the main stealers,it arived with some real dodgy rough to the feel primer all round the edge, like if it was not good enough at factory so it was repaired and primed by an apprentice ! This door was £400 ! Also had about 3 dents still and 4 high spots ! Sent it back and took 2 days for another, what a joke ?

Martin mk,i wish we had time to test run things like you can,we are rush rush rush ! I give up trying to get through to my boss and think whatever, wrong attitude i know but im tired of hitting my head up the wall.

Andy t,you must have read my mind mate,we have 2 old compressors lying there in the way and i did think whether you could link one of the tanks to our one.also is it better to use copper pipeing as we just have air line hoses at the mo which does nothing to help cooling i imagine.
We called a compressor guy we know out today and he is pricing up a cooler and propper filter system, think he said around £700 supply and fitted my gaffer nearly had kittens lol !i do like the 2nd tank idea as its something we already have.

Has anyone used the camair qc3 filter drier and where can you buy these type of filters in the bloody uk ! Everytime i google them there all in usa and delivery would be loads.carl.

Were a small but busy shop and spray about 3 to 5 cars a day,but these are 1-3 panels only and hardley ever do completes, say 2 every 6-12 months.we have about 15 foot from compressor to filter but only had water troubles in the last month or so,compressor is 12 months old but it gets a bashing from 3 body guys either priming painting or using the da so never gets time to cool off.my gaffer wants another compressor now for the air tools but we only have one supply of 3 phase so we can only run a single phase if we get another.but as i keep telling my gaffer the filters he has are fecked and we need good fitration whether or not he gets another compressor.

As a stupid knee jerk reaction he bought a new cheapo filter and a cheapo filter regulator but as im the only painter to use a gun gauge i pointed out that when i set the wall mount to get 2 bar at the gun it surges up at first then falls down to 1 bar :headsmack:
I cant win and they seem to take little notice of me and the other work collegue giving advise.is the surging because its supplying the first filter then supplies the second and when it empties the second the first wont flow enough air again or am i wrong here,im totaly pissed of with it now !

I know mate its just convincing my boss,he says “weve never had this problem before ” regarding water breaking thru our filter but we havent really had a summer over here in uk like this summer as its been quite warm for a few months and really humid, plus we have took on 2 other guys so compressor is getting a bashing,he just dont get it when i tell him we need a better filter system :chair
I feel like buying one myself im that p1ssed off ! What do ya do tho ? Carl.

Very good filter mate but my gaffer just will not spend that sort of money,he will redo several cars tho ! Its like banging my head up a wall but its not my shop mate.
Any other suggestions ? Also home made air line coolers,a link to a home made cooler would be great, heard about them but not seen any, thanks carl.

Sounds like a right beotch mate,we got a large tree outside our unit and sheds these caterpilla type things everywhere, its a nightmare.
We sorted our problem out,the guy who fitted new air lines and filter forgot about the one after compressor which was getting a bashing and was full of water, removed this and all is well again.

    I appreciate your imput guys
Firstly we have built a new booth home made but works well And this is next to our old booth which will be pulled down so to make more space in our workshop, also we are are having a general clean up and throwing all the clutter you seem to gather in a busy shop ( you guys know what i mean old panels, bumpers lights etc…) so we thought maybe something may have been disturbed but if so why did we do a full range rover paint all over and was mint ?
Secondly, today i spoke to our other neighbour who does pdr and smaller paint and repair jobs and he had the same issue thursday but painted a hood late friday evening and only had one or two which is probably normal without a booth so im thinking its an outside contaminate.i just hope it wears off over our holiday weekend and tuesday its clear again.if not we may have to try that dupont anti silicon drops.

Ben,cant see anything In center of them but noticed in the last job they were smaller than the other jobs but definately fish eyes as they were deep, they came up straight away in first coat of clear and also i didnt hammer it on too wet thinking it may help. I havent used any deoderant or after shave or fabric softener thats any different to before, the compressor is fairly new and has not lost a drop of oil or at least does not need topping up.carl.

Hi guys, they said next door have used it for years so cant be that,we use the same waxes as we have for years and use no aeresole cleaners or new products just incase.we thought about the humidity thing as the filters are getting more water than normal thats why i empty filter and compressor several times a day but we fitted new filter and used new air lines and still the same.its a freaking nightmare as all redos means we aint doing the other work and we are really busy, just hope it settles down after bank holiday.has anyone used the drops for this problem ? Ive heard it contaminates everything so you have to keep useing it ? Is this true ? :headsmack:

I agree mate,i only paid £180 as it was a one off deal so not too bad a price.as you say i just need to learn its tweaks to get better results. Where can you get the air gunsa guns from over here paul ? You used to talk well of these guns on kkl but i cant seem to find em for a good deal in uk ?
