Thank bud, looks good- is that off the gun ? Ill have to crack the supernova out again as i started getting pretty good results with my sata 3000 digital so ive stuck with that a bit now,is 20 to 23 psi for clear with the supernova ? Isnt that a bit low ? Im not a trained painter so am willing to learn as much as possible.
Do you full time painters go by a tds for the paint you use and stick to that or get tips from the supplier of the gun and adjust it to your style ? I ask because i find it difficult to find out what pressure to spray and distance to panel when using a new gun.I find that a self lubricating compound like megs and menzerna better as sometimes the water applied with other compounds heats up and leaves bad holograms.i like menzerna fg500 too and they do an excellent spray cleaner to use to clean excess compound off quickly.i also wash the compound pads after each panel but spin it off so its only mildly damp before polishing.
The trizact 3000 are only a finishing pad to remove as many sanding scratches from 1500 or 2000 and brings a semi gloss which is easier to buff.I was going to say never use a washed towel on your final stage with black mate, only new cloths as even cleaned ones seem to mark the paint.
Also have you tried the 3m trizact or mirka abralon foam sanding pads on da ? They finish the surface with 3000 and give it a semi gloss so is easier to buff, the meguiars 101 compound is good for black cars too, much quicker process with the 3000 foam discs.hope this helps.
I’ve been trying their solvent system for a little while now. Just here and there to see what it is about..mainly on lexus colors. It seems like a good line. They have a color system, variants, camera, etc…
The color variant system is much like BASF’s. I haven’t run into a problem where the color wasn’t blendable. Covers well and sprays nice. Their 8500 clear coat is a pretty nice clear. Sprayed a 69 GTO with it a while back. Just a driver type job but laid down nice and cut and buffed nice.
Price is very reasonable.
All I have at the moment :dnc
Good info mate thanks, yes it has colour variants, colour chips and all and from what ive been told if you run in to a colour issue theres a place in uk to call and get help if needed.price is the main point really as long as it does an acceptable job, most of our customers couldnt spot a colour blend if they tried lol and we dont do many show style repaints alltho we did a nice bmw m3 2 weeks back.Well i went in today as ive been off a few days and we ran out of the max mayer so i couldnt look,we had some lecler hs2000 macrofan which we get sometimes too,i quite like that one to be honest.i like the max mayer but it smells awfull( i know ya shouldnt sniff it,lol :stoned )
What pressure do you use for your base with the wbx ?I would of been good at matching the peel at your gaffe then andy, but id match it on every car, lol. :rofl Did a small job today on a new astra gtc and forgot to try the iwata  picked up the sata and got right in close and as it was black i could see it going on better,it was flat so i think it was my problem being too far out from panel.
Whiitey, yes mate its the newer supernova 1.3 hd evo.i think it stands for high delivery.is it any good for solvent base or do i need the specific BASE one ?
Thanks whitey, not sure which max mayer it is bud i shall have a look,i know it smells horrible lol.
Yea i thought the iwata has lots more turns out to be wide open on the fluid,i had to redo 3 panels couple of weeks back on a performance blue focus st after i used the supernova,i found it dried in loads and when polished it out it had left a few fish eyes behind so tried the sata again and was fine,i know its my technique and gun set up skills i need to work on,but with help from rn im getting it nailed slowly.ill try the ws 400 a bit closer and faster and let you know mate,it worked with the sata. :stonedAny one else tried this system folks ? Spoke to the rep and says its coverage is good and also colour matching is good too.we use solvent based mipa paint and the paint is good for a small repair shop but some of the colour matching is poor especially the silvers, also the colour chips hardley look like they spray out ! Any help guys on the pro spray would be great.thanks.
Cheers, the supplier is independant so not tied in to one set of products and swears its a good system for the money, hes gonna get us a few mixes like moondust siver, panther black, and reflex silver in standard shades to try on a few jobs so will be able to test it at least.
I have found a sata Nr2000 1.3 hvlp on ebay £145 but no cup with it,my 3000 rp digital cup lid is cracked quite bad too,it doesnt leak as it has the seal like a circle in middle of lid but could do with one,can you get a cheap metal cup at all for the 3000 and does it fit the nr2000 ?
Ps im in the uk.- AuthorPosts
