Reason why im asking is im going to start undercoating cars and would like to know if anyone has used fluid film around their shop and painted afterwords. I have cleaned cars and had a brain cramp and had fish eyes everwhere. So know i wait a few days befor doing any painting if silicon has been sprayed and been ok. Now im wondering about fluid film. I would like to use my scizzor lift to undercoat cars. But I also do mechanical and body work on cars in same garage. And only problems so far is silicon. Dust ones in while but i clean shop good befor painting to control any dust. And always wait a few days after detailing car to paint because of silicons in air. And so far been ok. Perfect conditions 2 shop areas but dont have that yet( in the works though.)

first i tryied to do jams thats when i noticed paint color wrong. And then i did another test on old bumper cover to see differnce . Thats when i new was off. Then i took bumper cover to supplier and they shot with camera and got different code for paint then they mixed but they told me wrong reducer for temp and to dry. And also other stuff. So I debated issue and went back againe and asked them to shot quarter with camera thinking hey its bumper cover could be off in color so they shot van in three spots and mixed another quart of paint and i tried again on not so noticable spot on van to see. And guess what again off. So I said hell with it and figured try ppg and guess what mixed by code and got the color almost dead on match. Paint code is 2003 dodge caravan PBE. two alternates but with the croma they tried by vin number then by the camera. The PPG went by code and year and got a match. So now go see if I can get money back or credit for the CROMA BASE paint that i could not use cause was so far off.

Cant remember what model number but its a older one. All plastic Devilbiss OMX Gun with the 2 triggers. Its old but Was nice gun at time i bought it. I normally shoot At 30 to 35 psi But figured Id try their recommendation. to see if made difference. I know time for new gun. But kind of fond of this one. And it still works good. Until money is allowable for new gun.

got the bumper cover today and its infact primed inside is still raw plastic. So can i use premoter and base and clear. Also the project became another pain in my BUTT… Went and shoot the jams and the dam paint dont match. so off to the paint supplier i went and brought with me the old bumper cover and a section that i tested their paint on to show them difference. Then had them shoot the bumper cover with their camera and guess what their camara came up with a different code. But they tried telling me that i didnt use right temp reducer and the metalic stood up which gave me a different color. I said is so why did camera come up with different color. And if metalic stood up why does it laid down flat. So tomorrow im having them come to garage and shoot the door for a color match. and hope for the best. Any thoughts out their on this. Idea of whats wrong me or them or what maybe i might be doing wrong. Using a devillbiss gun croma base paint 1 to 1 mixture also tried less reducer which helped a little. 45 psi which is recommended. but also tried less. instruction say 1 to 1 mixture and 45 psi which i tried. it seemed to lay out fine to me. But they say wrong temp reducer. It was in garage. And i used mid temp reducer. It didnt look like went on dry. and laid down like normal I thought. But id say if paint code used to mix paint and the camera are to differnt colors then i would say color mixed is wrong.Garage was 74 degress
