Sealers are used to do exactly what it says “seals” all edges and to give your base coat a completly flat surface to lay down on and keeps shrinking of base and clear so the out line of your repairs dont show down the road. It can also be used on bumper to promote adhesion and be tinted to use as a valushade for your base coat.

From what i can get out of what you are trying to say is that your holes are coming from your filler work. Im guessing that you didnt use a polyester putty over your filler. Dont apply any more filler primer, you need to sand off the primer with 180 than apply a poyester putty to fill the holes, sand than apply a filler primer, sand, sealer, base coat than clear.

ouch…. nice car too. It looks to me you have enough room to blend, it shouldn’t be an issue.

why dont you sand with 320 than give it a quick scuff with 400. Personally i seal everything that i paint because with the Nexa line the sealer is also the value shade.

Books are almost a thing of the past, we are now in the Information age with the possibilites being endless. What ever you are looking for is on the internet. Try Search engines and auto body web sites. Heck, there are a few on this forum that know what they are talking about. 😛

Why would you buff fresh clear witout sanding? its not lacour.. :p
all you would achive is chancing swirl marks in the finish, which you dont want.
cut it with 15oo than 3000, compound than polish the swirlmarks. I use the 3M polishing system but i have heard the Farecla total is a great one step compound/polish. I am looking forward to trying it

The best bang for the buck is definetly the Devilbiss tekna. I currently own two right now, one for water( 1.3) and one for clear(1.2). For what they cost i am very impressed. Its all about tecnic and getting the feel of your gun that produce the best jobs not how much you payed for it.

Try estimating how many hours you think that are involved in the job than X’s that with what you want an hour for doing it.
