for the amount of hours that i can imagine that you spent repairing that roof i think you did give him a deal. did you keep your hours spent on the repair? and cost of materials spent? just add the two together and thats how you can estimate the next job you do..
i cannot see your photos, but if it was me i would block out the runs with 400 wet and flatten out the peel with 600 than etch the rest of the panel, mask off what didnt need attention and re-shoot the clear. i wouldnt take the chance of having adhesion problems. its better to be safe than sorry in this case
the only thing that i can add is that repairs done correctly will come with experience, its not something that your going to learn overnight. you have to master to feel the repair with your hand and you will have no issue. and there will be no need for guide coats. its the same as everything, practice makes perfect. 😉
funny you should say that about the clear. i found it very similar. im spraying the same clear with a tekna,1.2 tip. i know it sounds a little strange but my rep turned me on to it.he said the 1.2 will beat the clear up better. try a 1.2 tip with your gun on full choke and the stuff will lay down like glass. trust me it works…
that makes no sense to me. why dont you use flex add. in your clear? i have experimented with the stuff and taken plastic bumpers and folded them in half and had no issue. the stuff is warranty in itself.
adhesion promotor has to be applied to bare plastic than let flash for 10-15 mins ,apply sealer with flex additive, base coat than clear with flex add. thats how my paint rep. warranties my work anyway…
do yourself a favor and cut the dang thing of and replace it.
3 to 4 coats of paint? wow.. im glad ppg has improved that wit their sprectral gray sealers in their nexa auto color line. i cant imagine having to use 3 to 4 coats of base coat. looks real nice tho bud!
i use the 3m eraser wheel on an air drill, it works well but a little messy.
welcome, im sure you will enjoy!
what paint company makes that base/clear? i have never heard of it, i am asking because it looks very good.
loooking good my friend. good job!
