in the old days when I was just starting candies were done by applying silver base and then top coating with a transparent color coat, then clear , but I believe this technique is no longer used. Newer paints can obtain the same effect with just a color base. :kofee

yup I concur … there is no proper repair on those … good job soldier :hunt
sounds like you got a real mess there …. the guys are right you wrinkled your first applications and now need to start from scratch … you need to get back down to your original repair and start over and do it right this time …. you may be painting the whole side now. :kofee

just melt some pieces of mig wire in to your back side repair with your plastic welder as your welding it.
then weld it on the outside. sand it down , prime it, finished … no filler needed (if the plastic is weldable) :kofee
