-Thick Chrysler primer/previous work. When doing small repairs on chrysler vehicles with that thick primer, it can often be not possible to feather.
That primer was so thick you could block out small door dings.
I work at a gm dealership. I spray ppg envirobase. Something prime was way out. I have a about 5 cards that I have tinted. Seen the other day that there is a slow lighter special. I believe it’s a new color from 2014.
I don’t use Autowave but I spray Envirobase HP at a GM dealership. Do you have your mix computer connected to the web for updates? Our system at the dealership downloads updates every night.
Had a few trucks come in the shop with this color, don’t recall having a problem. But as everyone knows you do get an oddball one from time to time.
we have a double prep station and they work fine for spraying. ours has lights on the top only and it seem to be ok.
Great for doing 2 jobs at once.
PPG also has a clear adhesion promoter if they do discontinue it, SU4903 is the number.
Also you can get it in an aerosol can too, SUA4903.
You didn’t say if you are baking the clear after. Sounds like solvent pop.
If you are drop the temp down next time and let us know what happens.
I’m using a 1.3 in my TEKNA at 26psi
When you say dirt are you seeing dark specks, or dried clear from your gun?
I have seen air hose breakdown from age leaving tiny bits of rubber in the finish.
I would start with those two and see what happens.
wouldnt the carpet get all rock hard from overspray?
I think it would.
As to a modified down draft, are you talking about exhaust on the ends?
If this is the case I haven’t used this type, I have used a cross draft in the past but for the past 15 years my booth has been a down draft type.
I can see their would be a cost saveings with a modified type, you would not have to dig a pit in the floor for the exhaust.
I remember a product that PPG had over 20 years ago that was called STAT FREE. It was a small 2oz bottle that you added to reducer and sprayed on you parts before you started.
Sounds close to the product posted above.
One shop near us has carpet in the booth and the painter loves it.
Post a photo after you are done 😉
I just bought a Tekna last month for $320.00. It came with 1.2 1.3 & 1.4 needles and fluid tips, digital regulator too.
