i have a home built booth from gyp rock and timber framed /sealed and painted ….loads of lights and a big ass fan in the back wall

    LIKE …….

it works better than a 45k booth i worked in …less trash etc

    dislike…….

heating the place due to the size !

all because i was on a tight budget
Well that’s turned out a lot better B)

I like the way you’ve done the bonnet. The satin thing really isn’t my bag, and doing it all would look awful IMO, but by going off the bodyline and having the edges gloss to match the wing and A pillar works pretty well 🙂

    Cupra R?
yeh thought the satin was going to look differ so we did it ………..the red xirralic coat makes the car turn red /brown in the sun its CRAZY lol

now i think i may well hang my guns up and get another job

THANKS FOR ALL THE GREAT COMMENTS GUYS

its actually on my buddys car lol

i was on holiday last week so he resanded the car with 800 and left the runs for me to do…

my plan of attack is 320dry on the runs if i break through spray some sealer over then paint so it dosent boil up when applying the base ….al of the solvent pop has been sanded out and left open for around a week …back in paint for the weekend i hope lol

btw andy i didnt look at the data sheet just went with the paint suppliers words …. mix 2-1 mix ……..BUT I HAVE ONLY MYSELF TO BLAME

playing it safe this time 2 coats of base and max meyer clear lol as i know i can lay that down :exci

    thanks for the input guys

the clear was 8-414 and yes your still right 1 coat would have done lol im used to uing like max meyer 0200 and you apply that how you want it to look and walk away with this sh*t if you do that you have to have a drip tray at the bottom of the car to catch it running off 😛

when we went back to speek to the guy with the booth we had a look around i just about fell over when i saw the compressor wow it was only 150 tank with 10cfm rating that may also explain a bit of the problem lol the base went down sweet with my iwata ws400 at 19psi but when i cranked the sata upto 2 bar for the clear it must have been on over run lol……another thing i should have checked   But you think the people that installed the booth would have advised him …..

so i advised him and couple of hours later he has ordered a 20+cfm compressor …air filter set up and tacky booth coating

so 2 weeks time were going to hit it again this time i might just use my max meyer clear lol

so whats best for the runs that are falling off a body line?????

    thanks again
Standox has a premium clear to this day it has the highest gloss ive ever since..I ve used dupont, spies, nason, standox, ppg and Rm clears i think dupont has a 4900 or 4300 clear that is okay and very easy to shoot…Premium took about 4 jobs until i got the hang of it
So standox is good in your opinion but can you explain how you made it work for you
i use max mayer 0200 i think looks great :cheer:
:cheer:

Mate try 0300 with the correct hardener and im sure you will be impressed. I use 0200 on all collision repair work but im looking for a clear that will produce a long term finish and high gloss finish.
