hey mate thanks for the reply.

Its all one brand, Protec. Its old left over stuff from when he got the front half of the car done ( it is a ute ) he already has the front end and doors done, im just doing his rear tray, rear quarters and tailgate.

hes given me the base, pearl and clear, but again im not sure if its enamel or urethane, if its either, will the clear dry dull or gloss? and yeh can i just use my 2k over the acrylic base and pearls?

Yeah i was thinking of re clearing the entire car, would clear fill up 500 grit if i skim back the clear with 500 grit on the air sander with a soft pad? or do i need to go from 500 upto wet 800 before clearing again?

its not a candy and doesn’t have any metallic in it. its just a fluro, i was under the impression fluros come under there own categories, for example : solids, metallic, pearls, candys then fluros

its popular on alot of the japanese drift cars

hey mate thanks for the reply. only reason i chose a white ground is because i assumed the white ground is what makes it a fluro as aposed to being just a blue?

since it was so hard to cover white, wouldent it be harder to cover a darker ground? what will happen if i use a light blue ground instead of white?

And did i mention i removed the rear wing and bogged up the holes, i should have got them welded but couldent be bothered, 1 of the holes has slightly sunk back but anyone whos not a painter will not notice this.

Oh and some pics of it completed and put back together.

thats horrible but we charge 500$ to paint 1 bumper so he got a cheap deal, BUT!.. that being said no paint and panel shop that has any pride would let a job leave there shop in that state even if it was a very cheap deal.

although, i like how he sais a million time ” my car wasnt like this when i dropped it off” but i didnt see any before pictures.

With new parts its mostly a grey coat first (dp40) then the color, i don’t like using a ground that is the same color as the color i am spraying purely because its harder to see your overlap, im still a bit of a noob hehe.

Thats some weird stuff your teachers are telling you. We have 3 devilbis gti pros at work, they are a very average gun to be honest. Our cheaper walco gun bases and clears alot nicer than our devil”s. if your a third year get yourself something decent, im only a first year and i have a Sata 3000b Foose ED for base and an Iwata LPH-400 for clear, It took me a long time to save for these guns but they are great.

+ would suggest jumping on ebay and getting the Sata 2000, a great gun and going cheap now days!

not sure if you guys get it in the us but we use auto thane clear kits a lot, about 150aud per 4l kit. cheaper alternative is the de-beer 4l kit at 75$ but i hate this stuff, its very cheap, only good if you don’t mind cutting back the clear completely flat on the whole panel.
