Hahaha…thats too funny. I guess I’ve been around these salvage cars too long. Don’t get me wrong I make a living off salvage vehicles but if your gonna fix them you have to do better work than that. I could never retail a car like that I enjoy sleeping at night too much. But some of these guys just dont care they have dollar signs in their eyes.
Are you talking about a s10 blazer? Or a fullsize Tahoe? Just for reference the cab I lifted with the engine crane was a 07 Chevy Silverado exteded cab. Actually I pulled 2 of them that way…I did a 05 also. I removed the seats and doors. It seemed to work pretty slick. Actually I’m getting ready to do another but this one is a standard cab so it should be a walk in the park.
Yea I read thru the link you posted. Seems like aslong as it’s negative pressure and your filters are 98% efficient your ok. Like you said the rest is up to the locals. And when I said home built booth I didn’t mean at home. I have a place of business. I do paint work but I dont do much for the public. I mostly rebuild vehicles to sell. But it doesnt matter I still have to go by the rules like a shop obviously.
lol…yeah it makes for an interesting conversation with the credit union when you go to sell it. Last one I did the guys credit union called me and she says I need the vin for this truck. I said, I gave it to you, and read it off again. She says but it’s not 17 digits? lol, I was very suprised they were lending the money on it in the first place. 19k for rebuilt salvage and assigned vin, you would think they would want nothing to do with it.
I’m assuming this truck is salvage and not clean title? In NY if they found out you switched the vin at the salvage inspection they would have a $hit fit. They call it vin tampering. I’ve done my fair share of cab swaps. In NY they give you a new vin. They call it an assigned vin. They remove the vin from the cowl and put a sticker in the door jamb with the new vin. I really wish they did it different so you could keep the original vin. Oh well, in NY you don’t have a choice. It’s either repair the original cab or get an assigned vin.
Ya it’s nice…especially for the money. Doesn’t even seem possible. I love it except for the problem I’ve had with the hardeners getting hard. Had it happen once with the primer and with the clear. I like the plastic tops better than the metal ones. I think they seal better. I’m tempted to see what this SPI craze is all about though. The only thing that’s holding me back is I hate to have to mail order materials…
Your making a mountain out of a mole hill. Fix the bedside and be done with it. Could be one of those jobs you’ll be kicking yourself in the ass later on if you run into a problem. If the rest is in good shape leave it. Just my opinion anyways…you know what they say abot opinions.
