personally, i’m not a big fan of transtar products. I don’t know if you have a kemperle near you, but they sell a clear by HB Body. It’s actually imported from greece and its very inexpensive. I painted a car with it, never polished it, then sent the car to florida. Five years later, in the florida sun it still looks like the day I sprayed it. I think the clear comes out to about 140 dollars a setup, but its a 5 liter and 2.5 liter of hardener. So for 140 dollars you’re getting 7.5 liters of clear unreduced.

Another decent inexpensive clear is pretty much all the clears by U-pol, which i believe is imported from england.
Kemperle is the best I order Everything for my shop from them and when you do that they real take care of you.

The best bang for the buck probably even just has good has some top line clears is am tech 4200 from pro spray cost around 125 kit which is 7.5 liter total

    X2 on trying another clear.

Sounds to me it is more of a problem with the surface flashing off to fast, either to much air movement or humidy issue…..

I also have couple different clear guns, Iwata supernova use when I want a finer peel and for small parts like bikes, 3000rp with 1.2 & 1.3 use for everyday use, and 4000rp with 1.3 starting to become everyday clear gun now. Also all depends what kind of clear I’m spraying and what size the job is.

Also have couple base guns, touch up gun and sealer gun, single stage gun, primer gun, But then again I paint 25plus cars a week so most times all these guns get used once a day or twice lol

It also depends on the air movement in the envirmonet your painting in like a garage, cross draft booth or a full downdraft booth will make a difference on what gun works better like hvlp works better with less air movement environments then rp.

If you plan on being a hobbyist painter you should atleast try and get a base and clear gun and a cheap primer gun( even tho you should have a good primer gun )

If your doing it for a living having the right tools will pay off very quick in this biz, I look at like this if a certain tool will make the job come out better or faster then it’s worth it plus if it comes out better means you should be able to get more for the job.
I agree I’m 28 and I don’t know anyone in this business younger then I am and if the r they don’t want to do it for long they say it’s to much work or to hot and do nothing but complain I keep telling the guys that come in u have to earn respect and work ur way up but they don’t want to and just wan to start making big money just starting out And they don’t know how to do anything
Sounds like everyone these days no one wants to work just run there mouth and take home 1000 a week working 40hrs.
I’m 28 and own my own shop and have handful of guys that work for me all younger, started over 6 years ago, by myself and now have a 8000sq shop, down draft booth.
